2021 STREET YARD HOURS (333 N. Moore Rd., Port Washington)
The Street Yard will be open, starting Thursday, April 1 2021. The schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Street Yard accepts grass clippings, leaves, dead plants and other small yard items. Please call 262-284-2600 for more information.

Brush Policy For 2021
Brush piles that are estimated to exceed 15 minutes of chipping will be eligible to be disposed of by "hauling away". For example, brush in the parkway that is stacked 5 feet high and longer than 15 feet. It is important to properly stack brush with butt ends facing the curb in the direction of traffic and to separate logs and brush. If possible, stack brush in smaller individual piles that will allow for "grab and go" in order to be carried to the chipper. If eligible for "hauling away" you will be notified with a letter informing you that you will be charged before the work is performed and a bill will be sent. We will do our best to not charge and assist in informing of the proper way to stack brush so we can be more efficient. The charge rate is $60 if "hauled away". All normal chipping is still free. Also, if you have smaller piles that can be put in containers (for an example; clear bags, small box, or plastic tubs), it would be much appreciated to make the process more efficient. Separate logs and brush into two distinct piles for easier pickup. For those residents who have smaller terraces or no terraces at all, please place brush in your front yard parallel to the sidewalk. Also, if you have a contractor remove a tree, direct the contractor to take or chip the branches.

GARBAGE CART SERIAL NUMBERS - IMPORTANT!
Due to recent thefts of garbage and recycling carts, the City of Port Washington is requesting that all residents record the serial numbers of their garbage and recycling carts and report these numbers to the Department of Public Works. Starting May 1, 2013, any garbage and/or recycling cart that is stolen from a residence, and the property owner and/or the City does not have the serial numbers, will have to pay Advanced Disposal to replace the garbage and recycling cart.

You may report your serial numbers by calling 262.284.2600 or by filling out our convenient online form.

BASEMENT BACK-UPS
If you discover sewage backing up through your basement floor drain, you are asked to please notify the City prior to contacting a plumber. This allows the City to determine whether the blockage causing the back-up is located in the sewer main or in the sewer lateral. If the blockage is in the main, City crews will be able to correct it in the shortest time frame possible. If the blockage is in the house's lateral, City crews will instruct you to call a plumber.

Please contact City Hall if you experience a basement back-up at 262-284-2600 during normal business hours, or, outside of normal business hours, contact the Port Washington Police Department at 262-284-2611.
